About this webinar:

Service providers from various industries including law enforcement, healthcare, social services, government, and community-based organizations benefit from this two-hour training Human Trafficking 101: Service Provider Essentials.

Each participant will have access to an industry-specific online case study to practice the progression of supporting a victim or survivor. Apply your learning by:

completing an intake
completing a needs assessment
considering your client's barriers
identifying trafficking in your client's story
considering trauma-informed interactions
referring your client for further supports

Please note that participants will need access to a desktop/laptop computer for this training in order to complete the case study activities. At this time, phones are non-compatible. Certificates of completion are available upon request following the training.

Classes will be hosted online via Zoom. Our customized training emphasizes interactive engagement to enhance learning retention and participant involvement. Through group discussions, case studies, role-playing exercises, and interactive scenarios, we ensure that your staff actively engage with the training material and apply their learning to real-world situations.

Speaker bio

One of our ACT Education Specialists will facilitate this course. Our vision at ACT is an Alberta free of human trafficking, and we aim to do that by supporting and advocating for victims and survivors of human trafficking, increasing knowledge and awareness of all forms of human trafficking, and leading and fostering collective action through collaboration and respect.

Principally, we operate from a person-centered model driven by human rights, that meets clients where they’re at and helps them get to where they want to be - whether that includes if they want to report or not, want to remain in the sex industry or not, or want to return home or stay in Canada, or Alberta more specifically.

Currently, we offer three programs

Under prevention, we have First Defense, which is free tailored training and education for community response;
We also run a Community-Based Victim Services Unit through our Pathways to Safety program, offering specialized case management to victims and survivors of human trafficking;
And we build collective action through our It Takes a Village program, which focuses on knowledge sharing, research, and partnerships.
